Man Dies After Fleeing From Deputies In Clay County

A Mahnomen County man died from hypothermia after running from the scene of a rollover in Clay County.

A Mahnomen County man died from hypothermia after running from the scene of a rollover in Clay County.

It happened near Felton early Saturday.

A deputy was trying to stop the car when it rolled.

One person stayed at the scene, but two others fled on foot.

Authorities spent several hours searching for those who fled.

Lieutenant Steve Todd says they followed two sets of tracks.

One ended where someone was picked up by a vehicle.

The other tracks ended where deputies found a man dead.

It was about two miles from the scene of the crash.

Authorities aren't sure why the men ran.

It's not known if alcohol was involved.
