The Oxbow City Council has withdrawn its affiliation with a group that opposes a Red River Diversion project.

During a special meeting Wednesday night, the city council voted to cut its ties with the Minn-Dak upstream coalition.

The vote was 3-2. Mayor Jim Nyhoff cast the tie-breaking vote. Nyhoff says the city can no longer support the upstream coalition because Oxbow may opt to protect itself with a ring levee system, which has already been approved by the flood diversion authority.
