Positive Recommendation For New UND Med School Building

The senate appropriations committee is recommending that UND's Medical School build a new building.

Governor Dalrymple’s budget contains money for an addition to the existing building.

But on a 7-to-5 vote, senate appropriations is recommending the legislature approve $124-million for a completely new building.

If the bill passes both chambers, and signed by Dalrymple, UND plans to move classes from some older buildings on campus to the existing medical school building, and use the upper floors for student housing.

Those older buildings would then be torn down.
