Heitkamp To Serve On Senate Agriculture Committee

Democratic U.S. Sen.-elect Heidi Heitkamp says she has been asked to serve on the Senate Agriculture Committee.

 

 

 

 

 Democratic U.S. Sen.-elect Heidi Heitkamp says she has been asked to serve on the Senate Agriculture Committee.

Heitkamp narrowly defeated Republican Rick Berg in Tuesday's election. She said during an appearance in Fargo on Thursday that Michigan Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow asked her to fill the spot on the Agriculture Committee.

Heitkamp says she would like to see a farm bill passed in the lame duck session of Congress.

Heitkamp is spending the day thanking her supporters.  She told a standing room only crowd at the Fargo Teamsters Hall that getting the nation's financial house in order will be a top priority for her.
