MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The Minnesota Twins have begun their annual winter caravan around the region.
This January ritual of reconnecting with fans over five states is designed to stir interest in the upcoming season.
Manager Ron Gardenhire was part of the first group that left from Minneapolis on Monday morning for southern Minnesota, with several stops also scheduled in South Dakota and Iowa this week before returning.
Gardenhire is in final year of his contract, with improvement by the team likely necessary for him to be retained. He says his excitement isn't deterred by a club that's currently in developmental mode.
The Twins Winter Caravan will make a stop at The Hub in Fargo next Tuesday.
