Dry conditions could pose challenges to hunters.
Stan Kohn of the North Dakota Game and Fish Department says drought conditions have allowed farmers to do emergency haying. This means less cover for pheasants, but also raises safety concerns.
It could be a good year for pheasant hunters, as the population has rebounded after last year’s mild conditions. North Dakota pheasant season opens Oct. 15.
