Stark County commissioners have asked Gov. Jack Dalrymple to remove Sheriff Clarence Tuhy from office.
DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) - Stark County commissioners have asked Gov. Jack Dalrymple to remove Sheriff Clarence Tuhy from office.
The commissioners made the decision Tuesday in a session that was closed to the public and declined comment afterward. State's Attorney Tom Henning says the decision resulted from a workplace investigation but he declined to provide details.
Tuhy says he was aware of the investigation but didn't think anything came of it. He says he'll be contacting an attorney with the North Dakota State Lodge Fraternal Order of Police.
Some people who have worked with Tuhy have accused him of bullying and intimidation. He also was the subject of a state probe into an alleged theft from a nonprofit that accepts donations for the needy. Results haven't been released.
