Minot, N.D. (AP) Lawyers handling home buyouts near the Souris River in the Minot area say sales are complete on the first two homes that will be removed to make way for flood protection.
Minot attorney John Warcup says that about 130 properties are part of the voluntary buyout plan. He says it's uncertain how long it will take to complete the buyouts.
Residents had an opportunity to appeal if they were unhappy about the pre-flood value placed on their homes. Warcup says fewer than 10 percent of city homeowners chose to do so.
The Souris River flooded more than 4,000 homes and businesses in Minot more than a year ago.
