Medora Foundation Starts Campaign To Showcase Oil

The Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation has launched a campaign to showcase the oil development and its history in western North Dakota.

 

 

 

 

MEDORA, N.D. (AP) - The Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation has launched a campaign to showcase the oil development and its history in western North Dakota.

Officials say the campaign is a partnership between the foundation and the North Dakota Petroleum Council to show how tourism and oil and gas development can co-exist.

The Petroleum Council has donated $50,000 toward the campaign's goal of $500,000.

A portion of the funds will go toward the paying off renovations at the historic Rough Riders Hotel, built in 1884.

Foundation President Randy Hatzenbuhler says its's a misconception that oil development and tourism can't co-exist. He says the Bully Pulpit Golf Course in Medora is located on an oilfield, and an active oil well is located near the No. 2 tee box.
