Proposed Oil Waste Landfill Near Dodge is Shelved

A Bismarck company has backed off on plans to build an oil field waste landfill near Dodge.

 

 

 

 

DODGE, N.D. (AP) - A Bismarck company has backed off on plans to build an oil field waste landfill near Dodge.

Waste Solutions LLP has withdrawn its permit application to Dunn County's planning and zoning board.

A group of residents in the county had objected to the plan, citing concerns over potential environmental problems and an increase in traffic. The company had said the facility to store solid oil field waste in an open, lined pit about two miles south of Dodge would fill a need in the region while creating jobs and boosting the economy. The state Health Department had given initial approval to the project.

Company Chairman Dave Barth calls media reports about the project negative and says it contributed to the project being derailed.
