N.D. Woman Convicted In Killing Files Appeal

A Jamestown woman serving 11 years in prison for a killing a year ago is appealing her conviction.

 

 

 

 

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) - A Jamestown woman serving 11 years in prison for a killing a year ago is appealing her conviction.

A jury in February convicted 22-year-old Janelle Cave on manslaughter and criminal conspiracy charges but acquitted her of murder in the April 2011 death of 18-year-old Abdi Ali Ahmed. He was beaten and stabbed and his body dumped in a ditch near Spiritwood.

Cave's appeal was filed Tuesday in Southeast District Court. Stutsman County State's Attorney Fritz Fremgen says it was expected.

Thirty-four-year-old Leron Howard of Jamestown is charged with murdering Ahmed. He is to stand trial in mid-August.
