FARGO (AP) - The North Dakota Army National Guard's largest unit is getting a new leader.
Colonel Giselle Wilz has taken command of the Fargo-based 141st Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, which includes more than 1,400 soldiers in units throughout eastern North Dakota.
The 45-year-old Wilz, of Bismarck, is the first woman in the history of the North Dakota Army National Guard to rise to the rank of "full bird" colonel.
Wilz takes over for Colonel Lannie Runck, who plans to retire after more than 35 years in the Guard.
The 54-year-old Runck has been in charge of the unit since 2010.
