MINOT, N.D. (AP) - The city of Minot is seeking nearly $23 million from the federal Economic Development Administration to help upgrade the city's aging downtown infrastructure.

The city's request asks for help in upgrading water mains, storm sewers, sanitary sewers and paving within 25 blocks. Added money from the city and a developer would make it a $30 million project to improve systems that are nearly a century old.

Mayor Curt Zimbelman, City Manager David Waind and other local and state officials traveled to Denver this week to make the request. EDA officials did not immediately decide.
