Update: Suspect Shot, Trooper Injured In Sioux Falls Chase

A South Dakota Highway Patrol trooper is in the hospital after a police chase in Sioux Falls in which the suspect was shot by a law officer.

 

 

 

 

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A South Dakota Highway Patrol trooper is in the hospital after a police chase in Sioux Falls in which the suspect was shot by a law officer.

The patrol says the trooper was run over by the suspect early Wednesday and is in critical but stable condition. Attorney General Marty Jackley says the 25-year-old female suspect suffered gunshot wounds and was hospitalized after being arrested.

Officers with the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department also were involved in the chase, which Patrol Capt. Kevin Joffer says began about 2:30 a.m. Details have not been released. A shopping center and a city street have been shut down as part of the crime scene.

Sioux Falls police and state crime bureau agents are helping in the investigation.
