BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - The North Dakota Highway Patrol says it is seeing a record demand for oversize and overweight truck permits.

Troopers say more than 194,500 permits have been issued so far this year. The patrol says that's more permits than were issued for the entire year in 2008.

More than 1,100 permits are being issued daily for oversize trucks that use the state's roads and bridges.

The state has collected $10.7 million so far this year in permit fees. The money goes into the state's highway fund.
