Minnesota's unemployment rate inched up one-tenth of a percent in August to 5.9 percent.
State jobs analyst Steve Hine says employers eliminated 2,000 jobs last month and July figures were revised, cutting an additional 2,000 positions.
Over the past year, the state has added over 24,000 jobs. Minnesota remains well below the national unemployment rate of 8.1 percent.
