Services Announced For Former Sen. George McGovern

Services have been set for former South Dakota Senator George McGovern.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Services have been set for former South Dakota Senator George McGovern.

A public viewing is planned for 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Sioux Falls.

Members of the McGovern family will be at the viewing from 5 to 6 p.m.

A prayer service will follow at 6:30 p.m. at the church.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at Mary Sommervold Hall at the Washington Pavilion of Arts and Science in Sioux Falls.

A private burial will take place at a later date at Rock Creek Cemetery in Washington, D.C.

McGovern, who lost a 1972 presidential bid to Richard Nixon, died Sunday at a Sioux Falls hospice.

He was 90.
