MELLETTE, S.D. (AP) - State crime agents are looking into a pipe bomb that was found in northeastern South Dakota's Spink County.
Sheriff Kevin Schurch said that the device found on a rural road south of Mellette on Monday was 6 inches long, 2 inches in diameter and made of metal. Officials with the state Division of Criminal Investigation were called in to detonate it.
No one was hurt.
Schurch says it might be a case of someone getting carried away with homemade fireworks.
