Fire Reported At American Crystal Tuesday Night

Fire broke out at American Crystal Sugar in Moorhead just after 11 p.m. on Tuesday.

 

 

 

 

Fire broke out at American Crystal Sugar in Moorhead just after 11 p.m. on Tuesday.

Moorhead Fire Chief Rich Duysen said an empty tank on the fourth floor that was having maintenance completed caught on fire. Flames worked their way up the tank and to the ceiling.

Duysen said battling the fire was difficult because crews had to haul hose up four flights of stairs. It took crews from the Moorhead and Fargo Fire Departments nearly two hours to extinguish the flames.

No one was hurt and damage was minor.
