FARGO, N.D. (AP) - A popular walking bridge that spans Interstate 94 in the heart of North Dakota's largest city is getting a facelift.

The state Department of Transportation says it plans to fix up the decaying structure in Fargo next summer, at a cost of $600,000.

Fargo resident Jen Hoy says people know the crossing as the ``blue bridge'' and calls it a staple of the city.

Hoy has started a Facebook page to promote the project.

DOT spokesman Kevin Gorder says the bridge gets a lot of foot traffic and needs work to keep it functioning.

The project will take a couple of months to complete and will result in some lanes being shut down on I-94.
