A 30-year-old man working on the high school addition to the Ninth Grade Academy in West Fargo was killed shortly before noon on Friday when he was hit by a steel beam.

A 30-year-old man working on the high school addition to the Ninth Grade Academy in West Fargo was killed shortly before noon on Friday when he was hit by a steel beam.
Police Detective Derek Cruff said the victim worked for Scott's Electric in Wahpeton, N.D.
"He was struck by a beam, which would come loose and fall onto the ground," said Cruff. "That beam resulted in the death in the individual. The individual was wearing a hard hat. It was quite a large beam, approximately 28 feet long."
The man was from the Fargo area. His name has not been released.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is on the construction site investigating.
The school is at located at 40th Avenue South and Veteran's Boulevard.
