Some Minnesota lawmakers are backing a North Dakota lawsuit against Minnesota coal restrictions.

Minnesota law bans utilities from importing electricity from newly built coal plants outside the state.

Minnesota State Representative Michael Beard said he and others support the suit.

"Half of the legislature is cheering for you guys and would probably contribute if we thought we could to defeat one of our own laws," said Beard.

North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem is challenging the law in federal court.
