FARGO - A share of federal money headed to North Dakota for highway construction would be used as part of a $2.5 billion road improvement proposal from Governor Jack Dalrymple.
A billion dollars has already been set aside for oil patch work in the near-term.
Dalrymple's larger "border-to-border" initiative would need legislative approval.
Dalrymple, on KFGO’s "News and Views," says a combination of federal road construction dollars and state cash reserves would pay for his proposal.
Some two-lane highways would be converted to four-lane roads, bypasses would be built and additional maintenance projects are part of Dalrymple's proposal.
