A north Fargo couple was nearly run over by a car driven by an intoxicated, nearly naked friend Wednesday morning.
According to Fargo police, the victims invited the suspect, 22-year-old Troy Whiteowl of Fargo, home for drinks. When the guest stripped off his clothes, the hosts told him to leave. That sparked an argument that escalated into a fight outside.
Lt. Joel Vettel said the guest then got into his car and tried to run the man and woman over. The car also struck and damaged a neighbor's garage and lawn.
"He came within, as they described, about one foot of striking them," said Vettel. "Again with the high rate of speeds and at least four of five times, the individual backed up and went forward in an attempt to strike the two victims."
Whiteowl was arrested a short distance from the home in the 1000 block of 27th Street North.
Whiteowl is charged with leaving the scene of an accident, aggravated reckless endangerment and driving under suspension.
