A joint investigation by North Dakota and Illinois authorities into an Internet predator has led to the arrest of a Finley, N.D. man.

Brandon Murch is accused of repeatedly contacting a 15-year-old Illinois girl through Facebook and texts for sex. Her parents alerted police.

Sargent Rod Swartzendruber of the Sycamore Police Department says that eventually led investigators to North Dakota.

"First we did some subpoenas and search warrants and gathered some records through Facebook and phone records and found out who the suspect was," said Swartzendruber. "Once we had identified the suspect, then we notified the North Dakota Bureau of Investigation."

Murch was arrested on Friday on a state charge of luring by electronic means after he attempted to solicit sex from an undercover State Crime Bureau posing as a teenage girl. He was later released on $5,000 bond.

Murch was arrested Tuesday by Bureau of Criminal Investigation agents on the Illinois warrant.

He is being held in the Cass County jail on $25,000 bond, pending extradition to Illinois.
