The heat and warm water has been putting stress on fish in North Dakota.
Game and Fish reports fish kills on Stump Lake, near Devils Lake; the lower James River, near Lamoure; and Brewer Lake, northwest of Fargo, among others.
Many species on Brewer Lake have been affected.
Fisheries management section leader Scott Gangl says fish kills have been documented in about a dozen lakes across the state.
He asks that people report any large scale fish deaths to their Game and Fish District Office.
