At least three people are displaced from their home after fire damaged a three-unit building in north Fargo Thursday night.

Firefighters were called to 810 2nd Street North around 8:30 p.m.

Captain Dana Carley says the fire started in the basement apartment.

The resident said he was cooking at the time, and the fire in the kitchen got away from him and spread to the wall.

Flames and heavy smoke were visible when the first firefighters arrived on the scene.

Initially, firefighters were alerted to the possibility of two people trapped on the second floor of the structure. It turned out those people were not home at the time.

The building sustained fire and smoke damage in the basement and smoke damage throughout the rest of the building.

No one was injured.
