North Dakota’s fatal accident count continues to exceed last year’s numbers.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol said 64 people have been killed in crashes around the state to date. That compares to 43 at this time last year.
Lt. Jody Skogen said some simple steps can save lives.
"We're certainly trying to educate folks and to get out there and emphasize the importance of seatbelts, following safe speeds because those are the common denominators we see in most of our crashes," said Skogen.
Fifty-two percent of all fatal accidents this year have been alcohol related.
