The new chancellor of the North Dakota University System is promising improved communications with students, faculty, legislators and the public.

Ham Shirvani said he plans to send out monthly e-mails that will tell people what the Chancellor’s office is working on.

"A new guy comes to the block, there's going to be rumors spreading and things may be misinterpreted," said Shirvani. "It's better that everyone hears this from the horse's mouth."

Shirvani said he hopes the monthly communications will lay out where the system is headed, and will also spawn discussion and ideas.

Shirvani starts his new job July 1st.
