North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem is concerned about the growing number of aggravated assaults in the state.
Stenehjem noted the increase following the release of the 2011 state crime statistics.
"We are more than triple, almost quadruple, the number of aggravated assaults in North Dakota starting in 2002 and just unrelentingly increasing to what we're seeing in 2012," said Stenehjem.
Stenehjem said the State Bureau of Criminal Investigation is working with his office to determine the reason.
