An assistant Clay County attorney and a district judge chambered in Moorhead have been recommended for an opening on the Minnesota Court of Appeals.

An assistant Clay County attorney and a district judge chambered in Moorhead have been recommended for an opening on the Minnesota Court of Appeals.
Heidi Davies is the Chief Assistant Clay County Attorney and has handled various criminal cases. She is a former administrative hearing officer with the North Dakota Department of Transportation and worked as a law clerk in three Minnesota judicial districts.
Judge Michael Kirk has been on the bench since 1989. Prior to his appointment, Kirk was the Otter Tail County Attorney and a lawyer in Fergus Falls.
A third nominee is a district judge in Mankato.
The vacancy will occur when an appeals court judge reaches the mandatory retirement age this summer.
Governor Mark Dayton will make the appointment within the next few weeks.
