FARGO, N.D. (AP) - The board of the YWCA in Fargo and Moorhead, Minn., wants North Dakota U.S. Senate candidate Rick Berg to stop showing a television ad that features his role in building a new shelter for victims of domestic violence.
In a statement Friday, the group's board says the ad is being treated as a YWCA endorsement of the Republican's Senate campaign. The statement says the YWCA can't get involved in politics.
The ad features a former chairwoman of the YWCA board, talking about Berg's role in establishing a new YWCA shelter for victims of domestic violence.
The woman says Berg was approached for a donation, and he was so interested that he ended up managing the project.
Berg's campaign didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
