Fergus Falls will have a limited bow and arrow deer hunt this year.

City council members all voted yes last night to allow a deer hunt this fall with the rules proposed by Police Chief Kile Bergren.

Only 10 people will be allowed to hunt and will be chosen by a lottery system. They will need to purchase the DNR archery permit first before applying for the city license.

Bergren says the zones selected are based on where the highest number of car-deer crashes has occurred.

Archers will need to pass a proficiency test of five out of six arrows hitting a nine inch target from 20 yards.

Fargo and Bismarck have had urban deer hunts for several years.
