A Crosby, N.D. man died after his single engine airplane crashed in a field shortly after take off Sunday afternoon.

A Crosby, N.D. man died after his single engine airplane crashed in a field shortly after take off Sunday afternoon.
Clinton Hay was found dead at the scene.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol said the plane went down 13 miles southeast of Fortuna in Divide County, in extreme northwest North Dakota.
Witnesses say shortly after takeoff, the plane started to gain altitude when the engine began to sputter, started to drop rapidly and crashed nose first.
The cause of the crash has not been determined. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
