Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial kick-off for the summer travel season and it should be a good one for Minnesota's tourism industry.
Explore Minnesota's summer travel forecast is for continued moderate growth for lodging and camping businesses and an increase in travel spending. Spokeswoman Joan Hummel said that is good news for all of Minnesota.
"Every county in the state benefits from tourism," said Hummel. "There are jobs that result from tourism around the state. Every part of the state offers something, and that's the cool thing. No matter what part of the state you live in, if you just want a quick get away, there is something to do in your neck of the woods."
Hummel said every county in Minnesota benefits from tourism. The industry continues to recover from the recession lows of 2009.
