Housing Market In Pierre Region To Be Studied

Economic development groups in the Pierre area have hired a Minnesota-based firm to analyze the area's housing market.

 

 

 

 

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - Economic development groups in the Pierre area have hired a Minnesota-based firm to analyze the area's housing market.

The study will include Pierre, Fort Pierre, Stanley County and Hughes County. It will look at current and future housing needs in the region and will take two or three months to complete.

Pierre Economic Development Corp. Executive Director Jim Protexter says that the city hasn't conducted any type of housing study since 1993. He says employers began voicing concerns about a lack of housing 10 years ago, and those comments have intensified over the past few years.
