OTTERTAIL, Minn. (AP) - A rural Ottertail teen is recovering from burns after some black powder he was playing with exploded.
The Otter Tail County sheriff's office says the 17-year-old was near his home when the accident happened around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. The boy's skin and clothing were burned.
Sheriff's Lt. Barry Fitzgibbons says the boy suffered second- and third-degree burns to his arms, chest and face. He was taken to Perham Health and later taken to a Twin Cities hospital. His condition was not available Thursday.
Fitzgibbons says the black powder was found in a storage area and was about 80 years old.
