MINOT, N.D. (AP) - North Dakota's State Fair is still on track to set an attendance record, a year after it was cancelled because of Souris River flooding.

More than 214,000 people have come through the gates so far. Fair marketing director Jennifer Ashley says the daily gate has been larger than the fair's attendance two years ago. In 2010, a record number of 308,641 people came to the fair.

Ashley says there's more people in the Minot area because of oil exploration and construction activity.

She says that fair officials are happy about the attendance trends, but she says it's more important that people who come to the fair are "having a great time.''

The fair ends Saturday.
