BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - Republican Public Service Commission candidate Randy Christmann says he won't ask for a short-term appointment to the PSC.
Christmann says Wednesday he took himself out of the running because he wants to "devote my full attention" to the fall campaign.
Christmann and Democrat Brad Crabtree are running for the seat left open by the resignation of Republican Commissioner Tony Clark.
Christmann is a North Dakota state senator from Hazen. Before last week, his service in the Legislature made him ineligible to fill Clark's spot before the election.
However, North Dakota voters approved a constitutional change that allowed Gov. Jack Dalrymple to pick Christmann.
Dalrymple says he will appoint someone to serve the six months left on Clark's Public Service Commission term.
