A Minnesota lawmaker says the North Dakota Capitol's an impressive building.

 

 

 

 

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - A Minnesota lawmaker says the North Dakota Capitol's an impressive building.

Shakopee Rep. Michael Beard got a tour of the Capitol Thursday from North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple.

The tour followed some insulting remarks from Minnesota House Republican majority leader Matt Dean last month. Dean called the North Dakota Capitol "embarrassing" and said it resembled an insurance building. Dean's remark came during debate about how to pay for renovations to the Minnesota Capitol in St. Paul.

Beard described Dean as a young guy who sometimes says whatever comes into his head.

Beard says the remark was meant to be good-natured, and Dalrymple said, "We got over it pretty quick."

Beard has been in Bismarck this week to attend an oil industry conference.
