Severe Storms Cause Damage Near Minot

The National Weather Service says storms carrying strong straight-line wind gusts have caused some property damage in north-central North Dakota.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - The National Weather Service says storms carrying strong straight-line wind gusts have caused some property damage in north-central North Dakota.


A gust of 93 miles per hour was measured at Minot Air Force Base at 6:20 a.m. Saturday.


Spotters have reported several telephone poles uprooted and a pole barn blown down near Palermo.


There was also a report near Deering of a 30-foot sailboat that flipped and the hitch came through the window of a home.


In Minot, spotters have reported standing water on many roads, multiple downed power lines and large trees.


Pea-to nickel-size hail is being reported in Berthold.
