The West Central Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Moorhead has been quietly preparing to open a sex offender treatment program.
Director Steve Larson told KFGO News the program will treat moderate-level offenders who currently must be transferred to another facility in Onamia, Minn.
"We are partnered with Benson Psychological Services out of Fargo, and they'll come in and provide the therapy for our clients," said Larson. "There's a parental group involved because having parents involved shows that the success rates really increase in those situations."
Larson said he hopes to launch the 22-week program around June 1st.
There will be room for up to eight offenders with the possibility of expanding. The 38-bed facility in Moorhead serves 10 counties in west-central Minnesota.
