There was plenty of interest in this year’s Fargo School Board election as 11 candidates were vying for four seats.

The incumbents, John Strand, Robin Nelson, Paul Meyers and Jim Johnson were all re-elected. Strand came out on top with 16 percent of the vote. Nelson was next with 15 percent.

With the winners separated by only percentage points, Strand was uncertain how it would turn out.

"I grew up on the farm and I was taught never count your chickens before they hatch, so it's a relief," said Strand. "When you have a pool of that many candidates and you have that much interest in running for office, you just don't know what the people are looking for. I'm gratified."
