Americans were paying tribute to the nation's fallen warriors on Memorial Day, and a number of ceremonies were held in the Fargo-Moorhead area.
The very first was on the Veterans Memorial Bridge.
Prayers, a gun salute and then taps were provided by a veterans club color guard as flowers were dropped into the Red River.
Among those on hand Stan Ronnigen of Fargo. The Korean War veteran says Memorial Day is full of memories for those he served with. Ronnigen said, "they are in a better place than I am."
The Moorhead American Legion also planned to dedicate a memorial honoring Clay County veterans killed in action.
