Private security and police spotted a suspicious person outside Fargo North High School at 3:30 a.m. Thursday.

The person ran off but officers found a ladder leading up to the roof and evidence of at least two people on the roof.

Police, school district employees and a Cass County Deputy set up a perimeter and did a thorough search of the area but did not turn up any indication of vandalism or entry into the school.

Sergeant Tom Shaw said this time of year, security around the schools are beefed up.

"The end of the year, potentially senior pranks," said Shaw. "There's been history of that. We wanted to make sure that wasn't the case either. And so far we haven't seen any signs of that either."

Police cleared the scene at 5:30 a.m.
