The City of Moorhead now has 90 percent of the money needed to complete its flood mitigation plan.

City and state leaders gathered in Moorhead on Tuesday to announce the most recent flood funding numbers from the state.

"We're all tired of fighting floods," said State Representative Morrie Lanning. "Thanks to the work that’s been done, we’re going to have a much easier time now keeping that river at bay."

Moorhead has received $11.5 million for flood mitigation, bringing the city's total to more than $86 million since 2009.

The city is working to protect itself against a 42-and-a-half foot crest.
