Tara Andvik was sentenced Thursday on three counts of felony arson for setting a series of fires at her rural Barnesville home. Andvik will spend the next 46 months in a Minnesota prison.

Andvik tearfully apologized and took responsibility for the fires.

Prosecutor Heidi Davies said admitting guilt is a step in the right direction.

"We had an idea that she was going to say that and that she was going to talk about prescription drugs," said Davies. "I think it's important that she took responsibility in at least admitting that she lit the fires. That's an important first step."

Andvik must also pay more than $13,000 in restitution and spend several years on probation and supervised release.

She will serve her sentence at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Shakopee.
