Valley City Names New Police Chief

A new police chief has been named for the Valley City Police Department.

A new police chief has been named for the Valley City Police Department.

Fred Thompson, a 29 year veteran of the Henderson Police Department in Henderson, Nev., has accepted the position. Thompson will start in June.

Thirty-nine people had applied for the position.

Thompson replaces Dean Ross, who resigned after a lenghty controversy with Mayor Bob Werkhoven and the city commission. Ross also had been put on paid administrative leave during a criminal investigation into the handling of money in a drug prevention program.
