Bagley Teen Burned In Bonfire Explosion

A northwestern Minnesota man is recovering from burns suffered in a bonfire explosion.

Sean Ferguson, 19, of rural Bagley was at a high school graduation party last Saturday and didn't realize that someone had dumped two gallons of gasoline on the wood when he bent over to light the bonfire.

Ferguson said others told him he was engulfed in flames and thrown back five feet.

Sean's mom, Kathy is battling breast cancer. The family does have medical insurance, but it does not cover the $200 it will take for a trip to the Hennipen Burn Center every week.

Kathy Ferguson said her employer is threatening to fire her if she misses any more work caring for her son.

A benefit fund has been set up at Altima Bank in Fosston, Minn.
