Arrests Made In Bemidji Cross Burning

Two arrests have been made in a cross burning incident near Bemidji, Minn. last month.

Two arrests have been made in a cross burning incident near Bemidji, Minn. last month.


20-year-old Derek Barnes and 19-year-old Ryan Fairbanks, both of Bemidji, are being held in the Beltrami County jail. Charges are pending.


A woman found an eight foot tall cross burning in her yard May 25th. Deputies found a racist message and other racist artifacts on the cross.


The victim is white, and was married to an African American man, who is now deceased. They have 2 mixed race children.
